New Testament

Revelation

Written by the apostle John during his exile on the island of Patmos (roughly A.D. 90–96). Revelation is a prophetic vision of the risen Christ's sovereignty over history — the spiritual battle between good and evil, God's final judgment, and the glorious promise of a new heaven and a new earth where God dwells with His people forever.

John receives a vision of the glorified Christ walking among his churches, dictates seven letters that address each congregation with surgical precision, and calls the whole church to hear what the Spirit says — promising to the one who conquers a share in Christ's own victory.

John's visions carry him from the throne room of God through successive waves of cosmic judgment — seals, trumpets, bowls — through the war between the dragon and the Lamb, and through the fall of Babylon to the final victory of the rider on the white horse and the great white throne.

John's final vision is not escape from creation but its renewal — the holy city descending from heaven, God dwelling with his people at last, the tree of life restored and surpassed, death abolished, and the name of God written on his servants' faces as they reign with him forever.
